Friday, after viewing some of the opening ceremonies on tv at the Canada pavilion, we went to a fast food Japanese restaurant called Ebi Tan. Downtown Vancouver has tons of Japanese restaurants but this place was quick and fast. I had teriyaki chicken udon with a side of ginger and fried chicken pieces. Afterward, for desert, we stopped by Beard Papa's for the best cream puffs ever. This place isn't exclusive to Canada but can only be found in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York City.

Friday Night Eats

Christine's Bed and Breakfast
This is the Bed and Breakfast we were staying at. Outside was the view of the ocean and that piece of land far far off in the distance, is the United States.
First Day in Canada
The very bottom photo is us just entering the Canadian border. After a series of questions, we were off to our Bed and Breakfast located about 10 minutes into Canada in a seaside town called White Rock.
Friday afternoon, the opening ceremonies started at B.C. Place but unfortunately it was blockaded and we couldn't get to near it. Right outside, a protest against the Olympics was taking place.
Most of the pictures are of downtown Vancouver near British Columbia Canada Pavillion where there was the opening ceremonies being televised against a Sears building. The Sears in Canada are much nicer than U.S. Sears by the way : ) When the United States came out...there were many boo's but I managed to still scream pretty loudly.

Here we go!!!!
Ok. So packing is complete, although that process ended at 1:00 am this morning. First things first...we fly to Portland OR and get picked up by our good friends Heather and Jon. Then to break up the drive to Canada, we're traveling to Seattle WA and staying with some other friends Kelly and Charles for the evening. I'm excited because I've always wanted to visit Seattle. Sadly it is only for one night but I will have a chance to go out and eat in the city. Then Friday morning, it's off to Canada. A 2-3 hour stall awaits us at the border..yippee.
As I'm writing this, I have a cat who is repeatedly swatting at my fingers while I type. I just spilled coffee everywhere...now I'm mad : {} grrr. Out he goes.

Meet the Mascots

Miga: part killer whale and part bear (sea bear) He's a rare bear that only lives in British Columbia
Quatchi: is a young sasquatch
Sumi: is a young animal spirit: part whale, thunderbird and bear
I REALLY hope to get one of these while I'm there. I'm sure they'll be everywhere. Now if they happen to be 40 dollars, I think I'll have to pass.
Vancouver Olympics 2010
As you all may know, the winter olympics are being held in Vancouver Canada this year. I will do my best to document the city, the events and the food our friends and I will be eating along the 11 day trip.
